  • Currys continues to champion inclusion and diversity in the workplace.
  • Kirsty Littlemore, Nigel Paterson and Zoë Martin-Pearce were lauded for their contributions to inclusion and diversity in retail.

Currys is proud to share that three employees were recognised in this year's Role Models for Inclusion in Hospitality, Travel, Leisure and Retail index, produced by WiHTL & Diversity in Retail, in partnership with the MBS Group.

As the leading UK tech retailer, being an inclusive company where everyone feels they belong and can be at their best, and where diversity is seen as a strength, plays a fundamental role in Currys’ business success. Kirsty Littlemore, Nigel Paterson and Zoë Martin-Pearce were named as role models for their outstanding contributions to inclusion and diversity in the retail sector.

Head of Finance Transformation, Kirsty, was selected for her setting up of the Women's Network at Currys, which now hosts 300 members. "The network is making such a difference already – really helping to connect, inspire and empower our female colleagues, with the support of some amazing male allies too" she explains.

Nigel, Currys Group General Counsel and Company Secretary, achieved the role model nomination for his inspirational inclusive leadership style. "I consider inclusion and fairness to be the bedrock of a positive, successful organisational culture which serves to attract and retain colleagues and customers" he shares.

And thirdly Sales Colleague, Zoë, deservedly took the role model title for her pioneering of both the pride and disability networks at Currys. "I aim to create a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive" she reflects.

The role models featured in the Index are highly effective advocates of inclusion, working to ensure that everyone benefits from equitable opportunities in the workplace and can progress their career with confidence and a sense of belonging. Representing a broad range of job roles and functions, the Index serves as a reminder that equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) does not have to be the core focus of one’s role in order to passionately champion a mindset and working environment that enables everyone to thrive.

The 2024 Role Models came together yesterday to celebrate each other’s achievements and make a joint commitment to continuing to champion inclusion for all.

“At Currys we’re incredibly proud and honoured to have so many people from across the business at all levels positively contributing to help us build a more diverse and inclusive business for our colleagues and customers alike. I’m delighted to see Zoë, Kirsty, and Nigel recognised for the significant difference they are making alongside so many other inspirational role models from across our sector.”

Sharon Murray Head of Inclusion and Engagement

“A huge congratulations to all those featured in the 2024 Role Models for Inclusion in Hospitality, Travel, Leisure and Retail Index. The role models featured in the Index are highly effective advocates for positive change, committed to ensuring that everyone benefits from equitable opportunities to progress in their careers with confidence and a sense of belonging. On a personal level, I feel humbled by the stories these role models have shared with us as well as inspired to continue our work to break down barriers and eradicate exclusion.”
