Currys, the UK’s leading omnichannel tech retailer, is proud to announce a boost to its Cash for Trash initiative, which makes it easy for customers to recycle their unwanted tech. For the first time ever, anyone dropping off old electricals at any Currys UK store will receive at least a £10 voucher towards a £50 minimum spend — double the usual reward.

As the UK’s top retail recycler of e-waste — with 1.7m items collected last year alone1 — Currys is helping the nation clear out its old tech. This is ever more crucial since the UK lags behind other countries when it comes to electronic waste recycling2.

The Cash for Trash boosted offer runs from 11th June to 8th July3, giving customers the chance to recycle any tech with a plug or battery, regardless of where it was originally purchased, and receive a £10 voucher. This compares to the usual ‘always-on’ offer of at least £5 off a £25 minimum spend. Customers with higher-value items can still access trade-in deals, meaning they’ll receive either the trade-in value or the guaranteed £10 voucher.

Cash for Trash is a key part of Currys’ mission to give tech a longer life. Items collected are either repaired, refurbished, harvested for parts, or responsibly recycled — all helping to tackle the UK’s growing e-waste crisis. Underpinning this is Currys’ repair and recycling operation in Newark, Nottinghamshire — one of Europe’s largest tech repair centres.

“We are thrilled to be doubling our flagship Cash for Trash offer for the first time ever. This limited-time promotion not only incentivises customers to recycle their old tech, but also helps tackle the growing e-waste crisis in the UK. We’re proud to be helping customers save, while making sure their unwanted tech is processed responsibly. It’s better for us, better for customers, and better for the planet to help keep tech in the hands of the people that need it for as long as possible”
