Currys will give at least £10 to customers who hand in their old and unwanted tech – in a welcome boost to customers’ wallets ahead of Christmas.

From today customers will receive double the usual £5 Cash for Trash voucher when they hand in old electricals at any Currys UK store – from old radios and TVs to hairdryers and mobile phones.
The vouchers can be redeemed on eligible purchases until 30th December 2025 in any Currys stores or online with a minimum spend of £50, providing a leg up to families ahead of Black Friday and Christmas.
And they’ll also have peace of mind knowing their old technology will be processed in a secure and responsible way.
Cash for Trash is a key part of Currys’ mission to give tech a longer life. Items collected are either repaired, refurbished, harvested for parts, or responsibly recycled – all helping to tackle the UK’s growing e-waste crisis.
Underpinning this is Currys’ repair and recycling operation in Newark, Nottinghamshire – one of Europe’s largest tech repair centres. Last year alone, 5.5m pieces of e-waste were collected for reuse and recycling across the Group, equivalent to 87,000 tonnes.
What’s more, if items are thought to have a higher value than the £10 Cash for Trash offer, customers will benefit from Currys’ trade in programme, offering gift cards or money for the devices’ value. The programme is known for helping customers’ pockets, with an average value of £137 being given to customers in the 2024/25 financial year.
“This Government’s Plan for Change is committed to cleaning up Britain and creating an economy where things are built to last and recycled when they no longer work. That’s why I welcome Currys’ Cash for Trash campaign as it’s a great way to get those old electricals out of our drawers and cupboards and cut the cost of new products.”
Mary Creagh Circular Economy Minister
“We’re delighted to double the reward customers can earn when they recycle their old tech, bringing this enhanced offer to customers for the second time this year. We’ve all got a part to play in solving the UK’s e-waste crisis and through our pioneering Cash for Trash scheme, Currys can play an important role in raising awareness, improving recycling rates and helping customers earn a little boost ahead of Christmas.”
