Currys is recruiting more than 300 delivery drivers and assistants across the UK as it gears up to meet customer demand ahead of its key Peak trading period.
The permanent roles are based across the UK – from Aberdeen to Plymouth – and cover both 7.5 tonne and 3.5 tonne vehicles.
Drivers will help deliver and install technology for the millions of customers who shop with Currys over Black Friday, Christmas and beyond.
As part of the recruitment drive, the UK’s largest omnichannel tech retailer is increasing the number of driver apprenticeships to over 130, offering anyone with a basic driving licence the opportunity to earn while they learn.
Apprentices will receive paid, on-the-job training alongside the chance to gain an C1 7.5tn LGV licence – all while earning £29,858 plus a bonus of up to 10%.
Currys has more than tripled the number of driver apprenticeships available this year, underlining its commitment to creating high-quality career opportunities for young people across the UK.
Retail has long been a gateway into employment, helping millions of people develop skills such as customer service, teamwork and leadership that last throughout their careers. A recent British Retail Consortium study found that more than one in five Britons started their working life in the sector.
The need for those opportunities has never been greater. The recent Milburn Report found there are now more than one million 16-to-24-year-olds in the UK who are not in education, employment or training (NEET).
By expanding its driver apprenticeship programme, Currys is helping even more young people gain recognised qualifications, practical experience and the confidence to build long-term careers, while investing in the skilled colleagues it needs for the future.
